About Murphy Parks Funeral Services.

From 1964 to 1984, Murphy Funeral Home was owned and operated by Duane Murphy, nephew to the founder, Loren "Pat" Murphy. Duane's brother Jack died at an early age in 1965. Duane acquired the lot next door in 1973 and doubled the size of the funeral home. Duane and his wife, Martha Jane Murphy had three children, Patricia, Anne, and Richard "Rocket" Murphy. Richard became a licensed funeral director, but was killed in an auto accident in 1981.

Duane retired in 1984 and sold the funeral home to Charles and Illiana Hartman.

The Hartmans owned and operated the funeral home from 1984 to 1995. Charles was originally from Bedford, IN and Illiana was from Puerto Rico.

In 1995, Greg and Sheila Parks bought the funeral home. Sheila Parks was the first female to be licensed as a funeral director in Shelby County. Greg and Sheila try to uphold the dedication to the community that the previous families had held. Greg and Sheila Parks are the proud parents of three children.
